LAYERS SERIES

contemporary figurative art

In this body of work, I take a multilayered approach within a contemporary art context. Beginning with a sketch, I digitized the art and integrate layers of transparent imagery.

I am inspired by Surrealists, as well as Leonardo Da Vinci, who combined his knowledge of anatomy with his extraordinary artistic skills.  He saw science and art as complementary; each should inform the other.

The final stage of my artistic process is the application of paint over ink pigment printed on canvas, which creates a distinctive aesthetic that is both carefully detailed, and hopefully provokes the viewer’s imagination.

MINDSCAPE SERIES

contemporary landscape art

Landscape is defined as a work of art featuring scenes of nature. Mindscape is different: Here, I make a leap from representational art to an abstract, minimalist composition and color palette. These paintings suggest a piece of ground, a slice of sky or a body of water, though they can also be appreciated as shapes and colors composed in a satisfying array.  Elements are arranged in a coherent composition with randomness of natural forms in invented compositions.

I continue to strive to push the objective farther and farther from my vision, challenging my viewer to see what isn’t there. These paintings have a will of their own and there are always surprises.
